King Leads Valley Mission During Pandemic

Kay King, paralegal at TimberlakeSmith, began serving as Chair of the Board for Valley Mission in January 2020. Kay and Valley Mission staff have worked tirelessly during recent months to navigate the Mission through myriad complications the pandemic has presented. Significantly, the Valley Mission participated in a joint effort with the Staunton-Augusta YMCA, the Community Foundation of the Blue Ridge, and Mary Baldwin University to temporarily move and house more than 30 Mission clients to an MBU residence hall. This move in April 2020 created a better opportunity for all Mission clients to receive services in an environment that allows for social distancing. “During the COVID-19 crisis, the Valley Mission has faced unprecedented safety and economic challenges. I would like to thank our community for its generous, heartwarming outpouring of support, both financial and otherwise. Our needs continue, and our hope is that the spirit of giving extended to us so far in 2020 will continue,” said King. TimberlakeSmith is extremely proud of King’s community involvement and leadership.
